Family Crisis Counseling

From Crisis to Calm to Completion

SACYA deals with the full range of adolescent issues and their impact on families and social groups.  Our crisis counseling is available for children of all ages and their families, in situations where a new or demanding adolescent behavior emerges, leaving the family at a loss of what to do or where to turn for assistance. 

Crisis counseling is appropriate when immediate professional attention is required for situations outside of what is available through government help lines , other crisis or needs assistant agency's, or the police.

If the client/family is in close proximity a psychologist will  attend in person, upon availibility of the professional staff.  If however the situation is critical and the geographical location is beyond our reach we are able to host a consultation over the phone or by internet communication using Skpe.

SACYA’s doctors will assess the situation and develop an action plan for the family assuring that the situation go from crisis to calm to completion in the most efficient manner possible..  If assistance is required beyond the scope of SACYA’s services, SACYA will provide awareness of services and avenues of help that are available.

Cases in which SACYA will not be able to offer assistance would be ones where medication is required, or requested, as the psychological staff of SACYA are not able to prescribe medications, and in most cases do not believe in medicine as an intervention for the adolescent person. 

The reason that the staff of SACYA disagrees with medical interventions in most cases is due to the fact that the brain of an adolescent has not fully developed and there are to date, no concrete tests or impericale data to indicate or support the safety and validity of psychotrophic drugs and their interactions on a young persons mind and the life long effects that these poweful narcotics may have to the child's future.  However if you and your family believe in the useage of narcotics for your child and are under the care of a qualified physcian, and you would still like us to help in managing the behaviors of your child, we would be more than happy to discuss the possibilites with you and your physcian of choice.
