Some adolescent issues are most effectively treated by in-patient care, or residential care programs. SACYA residential programs allow a youth to live in a SACYA home, providing him or her with the maximum psychological support from trained and caring professionals. SACYA homes house no more than three children at a time.
Residential treatment patients are exposed to a doctor or doctoral team for a minimum of 2 hours daily. Education needs are facilitated by the School of Hope homeschool program. SACYA in-patient care programs include recreational and environmental weekends and a two-week environmental impact event involving horseback riding, camping and hiking.
Because of the expensive nature of residential programs, SACYA begins with a program suitability assessment to determine whether or not residential treatment is the best option for the adolescent. Short term basic counseling is required for a minimum of 6 weeks before a candidate is eligible for a residential program. During this counseling, SACYA will have an introductory visit with the family and youth, conduct individual counseling session with the youth, group sessions with the youth and family, and facilitate the mutual development of an action plan.
